Please visit Drama Queen, my new blog at ArtsJournal.com.
Wendy Rosenfield is the Philly Drama Queen. Philly Drama Queen, the blog, covers theater, onstage and off. I am currently a freelance theater critic and arts writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer, and was previously theater critic for the Philadelphia Weekly. I have also been proofreader to a swami, publications editor for the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, and a Brownie Girl Scout troop leader.
I will not post on weekends (we all need fresh air once in a while).
If you have any tips, feature ideas or comments about work that does not appear on this blog, please send them to wendy_rosenfield@yahoo.com.
I’ve known Wendy since the first day of our freshman year at Bennington College.
Here are my 5 top theater picks:
1. Deborah Warner’s production of MEDEA featuring Fiona Shaw at BAM
2. The Gate Theater’s production of WOYZECK featuring Edward Hogg at St. Ann’s Warehouse
3. EQUUS directed by Bill Roudebush at Mum Puppettheatre (2001) featuring Greg Wood as Dysart and Tobias Siegel as Alan Strang
4. Theatre O- The Argument, International Arts Festival Pittsburgh, PA
5. Teatro Biuro Podrozy’s Carmen Funebre- Philly Fringe Festival
Wendy offers a unique perspective on the world of Drama, adroitly blending modernism with the classical base from which it originated.
Her comments are both insightful and relevant, her writing passionate and apposite.
Plus she can dance…..
